On this occasion, a common
mural orchestrated by “Mural Captain” Patrick Kirwin,
was
donated to the Museum of the City of Versailles.
Guided visits
were also organized, to the Real Tennis Court and the former
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, major places full of history
and decorative paintings.
The Chateau de Versailles gave its
support to the event by inviting us to visit personally and
graciously its permanent collections.
The opening dinner was held at Hotel
de Ville, where Mr. De Mazieres, Mayor of Versailles,
inaugurated the event referring in his speech to the history
of Versailles, closely linked to these talented women and
men, craftspeople of art, who contributed to the
magnificence of the castle and to its world famous
reputation.
The closing dinner was held in a
festive atmosphere and the singing of the Vikings resonated
to the heart of the Chateau de Versailles nearby.
The
XV edition of the Salon carved in the Sarrancolin marble
"King of marbles and marble of the Kings”, did not miss to
its tradition of sharing, friendship and fraternity.
I express my warmest thanks to all of you who have
illuminated still more the Royal City; it was a pleasure and
honor to serve you.
Jean Sablé, organizer of SALON 2010
